On this Wildflower tour nature’s vibrant masterpiece come to life. It will be an
extraordinary spectable of colourful blooms and breathtaking landscapes. Brace
yourself an inspiring journey through the enchanting fields of Namaqualand, where
sea and radiant flowers unfolds before your eyes. Captivating both the heart and the
soul , this tour is tryly a bucket list experience for nature enthusiasts and adventures
alike. Immerse yourself in the sheer beauty and tranquality of this floral wonderland,
as delicate petals dance in the gentle breeze. Every step you take reveals a new
palette of hues, creating a kaleidoscope of nature’s artistry. The blossems grace the
land for a limited time only (end of July until September) It is the most breathtaking
display of wildflowers in the Southern Hemisphere with 3 500 different flower species
makes South Africa the bulb capital of the world.
Day 1:
Depart from Mossel Bay and Cape Town international Airport towards Darling. We
will view yellow canola fields and flowers on this route. We will enjoy a light lunch at
Evita’s Perron and stroll through the museum, theatre, walk-in café and bookshop.
Duckitt Nurseries are well-know for thousand of orchirds and an enthusiastic owner
will share the different kinds of species. We will have a peek into what goes on at
the nursery. Plants and flowers are for sale in the pack-shed. We will visit Darling
Olives and enjoy olive tasting. We will do a quick drive to Yzerfontein beach and
overnight at Sunset Villas, Laaiplek in Velddrif
Day 2:
We will depart early morning to Bird Island at Lamberts Bay. In the island’s well-
situated gannet lookout, visitors can get close to the birds and witness their unique
mating dances. The bird hide is signposted with interesting information about these
seabirds and their habits. One of the highlights is to visit Donkieskraal Guest Lodge.
We will go on a game drive for an hour and a half with a professional and local tour
guide to view game and wild flowers. Afterwards we will relax with a warm coffee
and a traditional South African barbeque. On our way back to Velddrif, we will have
a quick stop at Elands Bay at Baboon Point to see rock art.
Day 3:
We will depart early to arrive 9 am at the Foodie Hub for cheese tasting and a
scrumptious charcuterie at Hopetown. David Malan is a very well-known cheese
maker in the West Coast with good quality products. We will head towards
Columbine Nature Reserve at Tieties Bay and enjoy a meal at Paternoster. We will
overnight at Sunset Villas.
Day 4
We will depart early morning towards Langebaan to visit the West Coast National
park, where 250 bird species are hosted, annualy a quarter of South Africa’s total. A
40 000 ha. Animals and birds commonly seen in the Park: African Black Oyster
Catcher, Bat-eared fox, Bontebok, Cape Cobra, Caracal, Common duiker, Dung
beetle, Eland, Leser Flamingo, Gemsbok, Cape Grey Mongoose, Black Harrier,
Molesnake, Ostrich, Great White Pelican, Puff adder, Red Hartebeest, Steenbok,
Angulate tortoise, Cape Mountain Zebra. We will visit Postberg, Tsaarbank,
Kraalbaai. We will return late afternoon to Sunset Villas and enjoy a sundowner
before supper.
Day 5:
This is the last day of the tour. We will take an early morning drive to Kirstenbosch
National Botanical Garden in Cape Town. It is one of the great botanic gardens of
the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of
Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. It is only
22 km from Cape Town International Airport. We will depart at 12:30 from
Kirstenbosch for you to catch your flight back home or alternatively drive back to
Mossel Bay
