7 Day Garden Route Tour – South Africa

Day 1: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn

Depart Cape Town at 6 am and head up to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo semi desert area, which also is the ostrich capital of the World. This drive follows the world-famous Route 62 which is the longest wine route in the world! This will be a scenic drive, winding your way through mountain passes where lazy baboons line the roadside through fertile micro-climate. With rows and rows of grapevines and rolling farmyards. Wine lovers will be in their element with a wine tasting pit stop. Complete the day with a journey through the landscape of rugged plains and towering cliffs to reach Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, situated in the semi-desert Klein Karoo. Those seeking a closing encounter with Mother Nature can join rangers on an optional Elephant Bush Walk at the Buffelsdrift Private Game Reserve. You will spend the evening here in leisure in countryside town of Oudtshoorn. You can taste local delights such as Ostrich Kebabs or steak and experience a South African Barbeque evening around a cracking fire. Overnight in Oudtshoorn at 4 star Game Reserve.


Day 2: Oudtshoorn

After a delicious breakfast we’ll head to an Ostrich Farm, The Highgate Ostrich Farm will give you a glimpse into the farming industry, allowing you to observe the world’s biggest bird beak-to-beak and test the toughness of the shells and feeding them. Head to the magical Cango Caves limestone chambers, alive with drip formation stalactites and stalagmites and remnants of Khoikhoi Paintings. An easy-going Heritage guided Tour to test the cave’s acoustics and gain insights your guide provides into the formation and dripstone evolution. By contrast , the Adventure Tour (if available) allows would be contortionists to squeeze, twist and wiggle their way through limestone chimneys on a rather more adventurous underground route. Day 3: Mossel Bay

Our first stop is at the Maritime Museum in Mossel Bay. A replica of Bathlomeu Dias’ caraval is on display together with all aspects of the maritime history of the early Portuguese , Dutch & English navigators. We will enjoy lunch at Cape St Blaize Lighthouse Complex, build in 1864. This lighthouse offers a climb to the top of the tower for a panoramic and breathtaking view of beautiful Mossel Bay. Overnight in Mossel Bay 4 star accommodation

Day 4: Mosselbay – WIlderness – Knysna

After a delicious breakfast we will head to Wilderness. Wilderness is renowed for its vast stretches of beach, it’s peace and tranquility. We will experience the Featherbed on a Lagoon Cruise to the famous Knysna Heads. Knysna nestles on the banks of a breathtakingly pretty lagoon, a potential marine reserve that is home of over 200 species of fish. We will visit the Stormsriver National park for a scenic hike on the 5 km Suspension bridge. This is the Garden of the Garden Route. Overnight 4 star accomodation


Day 5 : Knysna – Plettenbergbay

Today is the highlight of the tour. KAYAKING. Definitely for your Bucket List! There is nothing but the sound of nature and the kayak hitting the water. Take in the splendor of nature and paddle out. Kayaking is an effective stress reliever. Paddle Plett offers daily excursions on the calm Keurbooms Lagoon. Pick from 1 to 6 hour daily trips. The Kayak bring you close to nature and a variety of marine life, so a great opportunity to enjoy Plettenberg Bay the way it should be. Day 6: Plettenbergbay

Today we head through to Monkeyland, Tenikwa Wild Cats and Birds of Eden , the largest single-dome free flight aviary in the world, spanning 2.3 hectares of natural forests, streams and dams. 3500 previously captive birds of over 200 different species. Overnight Plettenberg bay


Day 7:

We start the day with an early morning scrumptious breakfast! We make our way back to George Airport (100 km) for you to fly to your next destination! Alternatively drive 500 km back to Cape Town!
